AuDHD can feel like constantly arguing with yourself about what you actually need.
You crave structure,
but too much structure makes you feel trapped.
You want plans,
but when the plan arrives, suddenly you don't want to go.
You want connection,
but after getting it, you desperately need to be alone.
You can spend hours completely absorbed in something you love,
then struggle for days to start something that takes ten minutes.
And because none of it seems consistent,
you start blaming yourself.
Lazy.
Unmotivated.
Too sensitive.
Too chaotic.
“Why can't I just be normal?”
But sometimes the problem isn't that you're incapable of understanding yourself.
You've been trying to make sense of two very different sets of needs with one explanation.
And when you finally understand why those contradictions exist,
a lot of things that felt like personal failures can start making more sense.
Maybe you weren't broken.
Maybe you were missing a piece of the puzzle.

I describe it as living a life that is just chock full of constant contradictions, where my brain is always fighting itself. It’s exhausting. 😢

I have diagnosed adhd but only recently have started feeling discovering I probably have undiagnosed autism as well and it makes me feel much less broken bc this is exactly how I feel. Like my brother shows the more “trad” adhd and I never fit into that box so I always wondered what was wrong with me. Nothing. I’m just also probably autistic.

I taught myself to read Japanese katakana, hiragana, learnt many Japanese symbols. My employer moved office , literally next door. I’ve been having daily internal melt downs 😂🫩
