a month agoThis wave of hatred, especially towards actresses like Milly Alcock and said Bella Ramsey, has backfired on the film community, resulting in more defeats than victories; the main reason is that it exposes the fact that this community is no different from what it accused Hollywood of being. Its zeal to control what should be accepted on the big or small screen is doing more harm than good: not only does it heavily limit what can be considered publicly acceptable for modern day filmmakers to present themselves, but also, they're doing exactly what right-wing bigots want them to do, leave these works vulnerable to bad-faith actors who attack them and discriminate against their creators without facing any consequences. It is regrettable, because although the film community claims to be progressive and inclusive, all of that turns out to be nothing more than a performative mask to drive engagement; yet what else could you expect from a group where the majority values their Twitter account more than the well-being of others?
