This is my story.

Hi, I’m Sang.

I’m 24 with a mixed background of Hong Kong, Vietnamese, and English. Just over a year ago I left my entry job at one of the biggest banks in the world. I was one month from graduating and already lined up for their graduate finance program.

Finance isn’t a bad path at all. It’s stable, respected, and works for a lot of people. I just realised it wasn’t for me. Society taught me it was the “smart choice,” and for a long time I believed that too.

After a few networking events I felt completely uninspired. I had been conditioned to want a life that didn’t feel like mine. So I quit. No backup plan. Just fear, anxiety, and the quiet worry of disappointing my parents.

I had never been consistent with anything growing up. My head was full of ideas but I never knew how to bring them to life. I wanted to prove to myself I could stick to something consistently.

So I started documenting my process on social media for accountability. The setbacks, the small wins, and the messy reality of growth. Just for friends and family.

But within two weeks there were 1k people supporting! A month later I hit 10k on the same week I graduated. Knowing my content could resonate drove me to upskill, experiment, and keep learning.

Soon after I found a remote job that gave me flexibility. I balanced that full-time role while helping build a media house and creating content every day. Even though I got really busy, it was the first time work felt fulfilling.

I only realised how much I still had left in the tank when I was doing something I enjoyed with less time. I broke a lot of my limiting beliefs. I got in shape. I fell in love with a woman who is incredibly loving and supportive.

Today I’m still figuring out who I am. And that’s okay. I’m truly grateful and take none of this for granted. I want to keep documenting to inspire others, keep hope alive, and remind people they’re not alone when they’re struggling.

We often overestimate what we can do in a day and underestimate what can happen in a year.
