Starting my curly girl journey & I’m taking y’all with me! Need your help curl-friends!! 🥹🤞🏽 Products used in this video: @conair Curl Define Pro Hair Brush @notyourmothers - CURL TALK- •Frizz Control Sculpting Gel •Activating Mousse •Defining Curl Cream ✍️Drop the products you recommend below! Story Time: Growing up, my mom & sister @rima_joon both had curly hair while mine was just a confused wavy look. Then in 9th grade I got a perm bc I wanted curls so bad but ended up completely frying my hair 🫠 then bleached it blonde to make matters worse & eventually had to chop it all off. Fast forward to today, I’ve tried so many different products and always end up with just beach waves or some curls underneath and the top being straight…until now! Side Story: (iykyk 😂) Last year my hair got wet at a golf tournament & my lil curls started poking out a lil when one of my curl-friends ( @sojazzaye ) saw my curls and convinced me that I could bring them to life. Fast forward a year later, after trying @idaone curly brush the other day & going through all the steps Jaz & @persiabella gave me, I finallllllly see some results! 🥹😍 Defintely not curly curly yet, but I absolutely see a difference & loveee the results 🥰 The curl defining brush separated the strands while all the products really activated the curls and are bringing them life (Slowly but surely) THANK YOU ladies for all the tips and the confidence to try & get these curls pop’n 👩🏻‍🦱🥳🙌🏽I’m on day 5 and going the whole month without straightening my hair. Let’s see how “curly” I can get ➰➰😌 #curlyhair #journey #curlfriends #curlygirls #wavyhairdontcare

Scrolling through Instagram during the Covid lockdown, Christine Dawood saw something that made her do a double take. She passed her phone to her husband Shahzada – not out of genuine interest, she says, but in a spirit of astonishment. He was captivated. "He said, 'Find out if it's real,' and I was like, 'This is definitely fake.' But he said, 'No, find out,' so I asked our travel agent. And then they came back to us and said, 'Yeah, it's possible.' And I'm like, 'Really?'" That fateful day scrolling was a turning point of monumental proportions for Dawood. The Instagram reel that she had assumed was computer-generated was in fact genuine footage of the Titan, a submersible that had been constructed to dive to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, taking tourists to the wreck of the Titanic. Everyone knows how the story ends. On June 18, 2023, the Titan imploded off the Titanic's bow, instantly killing all five on board. Shahzada Dawood was one of them. Their 19-year-old son, Suleman, was at his side. In her memoir, Christine draws from her journal and transcripts of what unfolded after the Titan went missing. She says she recorded everything to report back to relatives on the ground. The result is a slow-burn horror story. Today I was speaking with one of my clients and something became so clear to me. The more I travel and the more Muslim women I work with from completely different cultures, the more I keep meeting the same woman underneath different stories. She loves Allah deeply, yet there is also anger sitting beside that love because so much of what she learned about God came through control. I have watched women have their entire relationship with Allah questioned over what they wear while nobody around them is asking the men interrogating their faith whether their own character reflects the Prophet ﷺ, whether their money is clean, whether they fulfill their responsibilities or whether the women around them actually feel safe in their presence. A woman removes her hijab and suddenly people speak as if they have access to the state of her soul, and that alone tells me how much we have reduced a woman’s spirituality to something visible. This is why I keep thinking Islam needs a feminist revolution, and I mean something much deeper than turning men and women into enemies. I am talking about Muslim women reclaiming the spiritual responsibility Allah already gave them and meeting Allah for themselves. Allah says believing men and believing women are allies of one another, carrying responsibility together for what is right. What I am seeing instead is generations of women who desperately love God while carrying pain toward an image of God that was handed to them through men. When religion is repeatedly introduced through shame, restriction and fear, eventually the woman can begin resenting Allah for something another human being attached to His name. I want women to meet Allah without somebody standing between them and Him, and I want Muslim men back inside their sacred responsibility too because this cannot become another war between the sexes. Shaytan wins in separation. Maybe that is the revolution.
