TNHT Staff: @hausofaaron __________________ Neighbors, an ICE agent shot 28-year-old Oscar Belgal in the neck in front of a 5-year-old boy believed to be his son in New York City on Thursday evening. __________________ According to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, a federal immigration agent fired seven rounds into Belgal’s car in the Marble Hill neighborhood. The child was not injured. __________________ Homeland Security said agents were conducting a targeted enforcement operation to arrest an undocumented immigrant with a criminal record. The department claims Belgal has connections to the Trinitarios, a Dominican gang, and that he had previously been arrested twice in connection with a 2023 robbery charge and a 2025 criminal sale of a controlled substance charge. __________________ Homeland Security acknowledged that an ICE officer shot Belgal while attempting to make an arrest, adding that agents “immediately rendered aid.” __________________ The shooting sparked protests, with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani calling the incident an “outrage” and accusing the Trump administration of “terrorizing our city.” __________________ Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin also commented on the incident, saying, “I will say this about the five year old child. As a father of six, I would never endanger my kids. My job as a father is protect my family.” 🎥: @cspan abc7ny
