4 days ago@deadmau5 I’m not saying you caused anything, but I wish major DJs would acknowledge the history behind some of these events instead of only talking about how fun they are. There have been documented deaths at major Southern California rave events for years, including young people who took MDMA or other drugs and never came home. I lived through Michelle Lee’s medical emergency at Monster Massive, spent roughly 35–45 minutes trying to help her through repeated seizures, and she died days later. Then 15-year-old Sasha Rodriguez died after collapsing at the Coliseum. I’ve been quoted in major news coverage only sentences away from some of the biggest DJs and promoters in this industry, yet almost nobody from this scene has ever reached out, acknowledged what I went through, apologized, or even offered basic compassion. I’m not trying to hate on you. I’m asking people with huge platforms to remember that behind the lights, music, and crowds there are real people who have died, real families who were changed forever, and witnesses who have carried this for years. The industry should be able to celebrate music and still honestly acknowledge the human cost when things go wrong.
