Yesterday, Rhode Founder and Chief Creative Officer Hailey Bieber spoke at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit in Santa Barbara, California. “I am not interested in overconsumption. I think the beauty space is very, very filled as it is,” Bieber said, adding that Rhode’s ethos was inspired by beauty essentials “as somebody who has been working since I was seventeen years old and traveling on my own.” Problem is, despite the brand’s commitment to “the reduction of overconsumption,” Rhode isn’t exactly known for sustainable products or practices.
