EFCC Arraigns Businessman Over ₦34.8 Million Spaghetti Supply Fr@ud In Kano

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Halifa Abdulmajid before the Kano State High Court for allegedly misappropriating ₦34.875 million paid to him to supply spaghetti but failing to deliver the goods.

Abdulmajid appeared before Justice Musa Karaye on a one-count charge of criminal misappropriation over the alleged offence, which reportedly occurred in Kano between September and October 2024.

According to the charge sheet, the defendant allegedly dishonestly misappropriated the money belonging to Fahad Adaji. The funds were reportedly transferred, on his instruction, into a First Bank account belonging to Muazu Abdullahi for the purchase of IRS Spaghetti from BUA.

The charge was filed under Section 308 of the Kano State Penal Code Law and is punishable under Section 309 of the same law.

When the charge was read to him on Wednesday, Abdulmajid pleaded not guilty.

Following his plea, prosecution counsel Mustapha Maiwada requested a trial date and asked the court to remand the defendant in a custodial facility.

Justice Karaye granted the request and ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility. The case was adjourned until November 2 for the commencement of the hearing.
