We weren’t looking for these…
But while visiting the seawall in Georgetown, this flash of red suddenly appeared against the blue sky and stopped me in my tracks.
Even my mother, who was born and raised in Guyana, said she had never seen these red birds before.
That made the moment even more interesting.
There were many of them flying together in formation and the contrast of that bright red against the sky was incredible to see in person.
Almost 30 years away, and somehow Guyana still had plenty of surprises waiting for me.
