Investing can be intimidating.
@uvicgirlsinvest is making it a little less so.
BCom students Aliyah Minter, Cynthia Lu and Zena Urquhart wanted a space where women could learn about investing together, ask questions and build their knowledge without feeling like they needed to be experts first.
When they couldn’t find quite what they were looking for on campus, they decided to create it themselves. They launched UVic Girls that Invest in fall 2025 and started building the kind of community they had been looking for.
“I think what’s unique about our group is that we’re learning in a fun and welcoming way,” says Aliyah.
Today, the club has grown to more than 150 members, with events ranging from guest speakers and networking to trivia nights and Jeopardy.
