Nearly a century of Italian design excellence and a name recognized far beyond the automotive world it helped define.
We recently sat down with Michael Iannaco, Senior Business Development Executive for @pininfarinaofamerica, to talk about the company’s legacy, its evolution from a coachbuilder into a global design and engineering group, and what’s drawing the team toward opportunities here in southern Ontario.
Founded in 1930 in Cambiano, Turin, Pininfarina built its name by shaping some of the most iconic cars in automotive history, working with brands like Ferrari, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo. Over the decades, that same design philosophy has extended into architecture, yachting, industrial design, and experience design, with offices today across Italy, Germany, China, and the United States.
That same spirit of pushing into new territory is what brought Iannaco to southern Ontario. With the support of ICCO Canada and funding from the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (@feddevontario), Pininfarina has been meeting with Italian Canadian companies and Ontario businesses to explore where its design and engineering expertise could add value in this market. A series of B2B meetings later, the network keeps growing.
It’s a privilege to welcome a name as iconic as Pininfarina into the ICCO Canada community and to see firsthand how Italian design thinking is finding new ground in southern Ontario.
