9/20/26 — We hunted two coverts in the morning and moved 5 grouse and 14 woodcock. The leaves are still thick so only James and I were able to connect on one woodcock each. I’m currently shooting 100% this season, so I’m riding that high until I inevitably get humbled.

Connor and Hunter had some activity as well, but weren’t able to connect on any birds while shooting through the drywall-like cover.

This was Miller and Stella’s first hunt of the 2026/2027 upland season, and they jumped right back into it like they never missed a beat. It was fun watching them and the other dogs lay down the law.
