I wish I could relive this day in South Dakota again. Nothing beats a crisp fall day full of good company, wild birds, and remarkable dog work. @kowboykacey @slick_rickj

This is the part of fall I wait all year for. Two dogs on point, woodcock in the air, and a clean retrieve.
•
I don’t take these days for granted. Not every walk through the woods ends like this. I’m thankful for the dogs, the cover, and the time spent outside.

Monday, April 20th was a bad day to be a turkey. Despite the cold morning temps and birds that didn’t want to cooperate, we were able to bag 3 birds before noon once things started to warm up.
•
Time to link up with the rest of the crew and help them punch their tags.👊🏻🦃

Connor and Hunter had a hell of a trip out West. From chasing ruffed grouse on the mountainsides to chasing huns and sharpies on the prairie. To say I’m jealous is an understatement.

9/20/26 — We hunted two coverts in the morning and moved 5 grouse and 14 woodcock. The leaves are still thick so only James and I were able to connect on one woodcock each. I’m currently shooting 100% this season, so I’m riding that high until I inevitably get humbled.
•
Connor and Hunter had some activity as well, but weren’t able to connect on any birds while shooting through the drywall-like cover.
•
This was Miller and Stella’s first hunt of the 2026/2027 upland season, and they jumped right back into it like they never missed a beat. It was fun watching them and the other dogs lay down the law.

Pretty unique smallie I caught 2 weekends ago. The pictures don’t do it justice- its fins were much more vibrant yellow and vibrant red in person along with its mouth being fully yellow. I also noticed his gill plate was really tore up. As you can see in the rest of the pictures, all the other fish caught in this area were of expected colorations and health.
•
It’s hard to beat a good day on the water. You never know what you’ll catch!

Watching Connor pull a largie out of the water definitely wasn’t on our bingo card during this float. But we’ll take it every time. Especially when it’s a solid fish caught on the fly rod. 🔥

Catching bronze backs on the 4th is hard to beat. The fishing wasn’t as hot as it normally is but I’m glad we were able to get on a few! 🇺🇸

Happy Father’s Day, Dad. I’m forever grateful for every hunt, every cast, and every lesson along the way. Thanks for always being there for us.

Here’s to many more miles, memories, and adventures!

Blew a trailer tire on the way to the launch and fought the wind all day, but we still managed to put a few nice sunfish in the boat yesterday. It’s always a good time on the water.

Gettin’ er done! Congrats good buddy!

We got Ryan into turkey hunting a few years ago. He’s had plenty of close encounters, but just hadn’t been able to seal the deal.
•
He stuck with it and put in the time, including a few solo hunts this spring. One of those hunts finally paid off with his first bird.
•
There’s something special about getting your first turkey on your own. He was hooked before, but now it’s a full-blown addiction.🫡
