Today was a special day, a once in a lifetime day. I attended the same school as my mother (and grandmother) - Godolphin in Salisbury. The school was founded by Elizabeth Godolphin in 1726. While I was at Godolphin, we celebrated the 250 year anniversary with a musical (entitled “Where There’s a Will”) written by the school music teacher, Richard Shepherd. Today we celebrated the 300 year anniversary with a service in Westminster Abbey (which is where Elizabeth Godolphin is buried). After the service (attended by c1,000 people including current teachers and pupils) I met people I hadn’t seen for almost 50 years. My mother and I then had a late pub lunch with 6 of my contemporaries. Happy, special days. 🥰
