Meet Bea Åkerlund, a stylist, costume designer, and creative director who has spent over 30 years building characters and visual worlds across music, film, performance and art, working with some of the most iconic artists in the world while staying just as drawn to the unknown designer making something original and pure.
Self-taught and instinctive, her language was shaped by contradiction: Scandinavian simplicity rebelled against with drama, subculture, glamour, punk, religion, fetish, and couture. Without formal rules to follow, she built her own.
For Bea, a look is never about making someone look pretty, it’s about transformation, about creating an image that makes you feel something. Her work moves fluidly between beautiful and ugly, sacred and profane, refined and completely fucked up, because for her, perfection isn’t interesting. Point of view is.
