Three meetings. That’s all it took for a group of women who walked into a room as complete strangers to become people who check in on each other, celebrate each other, and show up when it matters.

There’s something beautiful about what happens when you bring the same women together, give them the space to be themselves, and let them get to know each other beyond the usual introductions and small talk. Slowly, the awkwardness fades, the conversations get deeper, the inside jokes begin, and people start feeling a little more at home with each other.

We often think friendships take years to build, but sometimes, all they need is the right space, a little intention, and the willingness to show up. This is what we’re building at Sakhi. Not just a space to meet women, but a space where strangers can become friends, and friends can become your people. 🤍

Comment SAKHI to join the next cohort!

Let’s Make this no Maida, No Onion-Garlic Navratri Special Sabudana paneer Jhol Momo in Nepali Style without any Tamjam .

Ingredients
For the momo
1 cup sabudana (tapioca pearls)
½ cup grated carrot
½ cup crumbled fresh paneer
Salt to taste (as per your vrat rules)
1 tsp ghee

For the creamy jhol
2 medium tomatoes
2 tbsp peanuts
1 tbsp sesame seeds
1 green chilli
½ tsp grated ginger (optional)
1 tsp mustard oil

Water as needed

Salt to taste (as per your vrat rules)

Method

Soak the sabudana: Soak for a few hours until softened. Drain thoroughly and let the excess moisture evaporate.

Prepare the filling: Mix grated carrot, crumbled paneer, salt and ghee.

Make the jhol paste: Dry-roast peanuts and sesame seeds. Separately, heat mustard oil and cook tomatoes, green chilli and optional ginger until the tomatoes become very soft.

Blend: Grind the roasted peanuts, sesame seeds and cooked tomatoes into a smooth paste.

Cook the jhol: Transfer the paste to a pan, add water and salt as needed, and simmer until thick and creamy.

Shape the momos: Mash the drained sabudana. With lightly oiled hands, flatten a portion, add the paneer-carrot filling and carefully seal into a ball. Wet your hands slightly if needed.

Steam: Place the balls on greased or parchment-lined steamer plates and steam for about 20–25 minutes, checking that the sabudana is cooked through and the balls hold their shape.

Serve: Place the steamed momos in a bowl and pour the hot creamy jhol over them. Enjoy immediately!

Tips for best results

Drain the sabudana really well so the mixture is easier to shape.
Steam one test momo first; if it doesn’t hold together, the sabudana may need more draining or mashing.
Vrat rules vary by household, so confirm that mustard oil, sesame seeds and your chosen seasonings are permitted.
