Unbearably excited to announce the return of @willwillguthrie for @bris.international.jazz.fest next month!! A legend in Australian jazz & DIY circles, Will is probably my favourite artist this country has ever produced and a near-constant source of inspiration.

Will’s legacy has been one of artistic exploration since emerging from Melbourne’s jazz scene and co-founding improv institution Make It Up Club in the late 90s.

Whether through his hybrid gamelan ensemble Nist-Nah, countless solo documents, or recurring collaborations with fellow Australian experimentalist Oren Ambarchi - Guthrie is a singular creative force both on and off the kit.

On support we have fellow DIY electronic veteran Adam Sussman, who played with Will back in 2014 at now-extinct venue Real Bad Music.

Skylar Sansome will debut a duo set with Tim Green, combining two of Brisbane’s most inventive percussive forces.

And the young spiritual jazz emissaries Cosmos Ensemble - an ever-evolving project led by Peyo Pappadoupolos. Their sets both tribute and re-invent a cosmic jazz lineage in real-time, i’m stoked to have everyone on board.

All this music means a lot to me and hopefully it can mean something to you as well! Tickets are $25 or PWYC at the door. Link in bios etc

Thanks to Bill Foley for the poster image + Ben & Brodie for their tireless work pulling together a banger BIJF 2026. Check their page for the full program and catch you at the shows!
