Why do we say Radhe Radhe and not Krishn Krishn? Why do we take Radha’s name before Krishna? Why are they worshipped together? What was so unique about this love story? These were some of the questions I started with when we decided to tell the story of RadhaKrishn. We started researching everything we could find about them… travelled to Vrindavan, Dwarka, met people, recorded their stories, their beliefs, tried to understand all the whys and somewhere through this journey came the thought that became the heart of our story… Maybe this love story happened to make the world understand… what is love? Radha didn’t want to own Krishna, change him or even need to be with him. Her love was selfless. She understood that love is not about holding on… love sets the person you love free. Her love set Krishna free. And that’s why for us they were never two names… RadhaKrishn. One word. But this story almost didn’t get made :) After almost a year of work, just a month before we were to shoot, the series was called off. I clearly remember telling Sumedh and Mallika… it’s not happening now, but it will. And the day it does, we will come to you first… I just hope you both are free and available, as I don’t see anyone else doing it better than you. A year and a half later, Star called. The same people who had first trusted me with Mahabharat believed in us again. And somehow, as if it was meant to be, Sumedh and Mallika were both available and waiting deep inside :) Finally, 8 years ago tonight, we met you. To Sumedh, Mallika, Arpit, Basant, Nimay, Akangsha and every actor who became these characters… to our writers, directors, creatives, musicians, singers, editors, technicians, the team at Star and every single person who gave a part of themselves to this show… thank you. And to all of you who watched it, loved it and still keep it alive… thank you for giving all of us a memory worth a lifetime. Your love deepens our belief. 8 years later, sharing the song that perhaps says everything we were trying to say… Tum Prem Ho. Gratitude & Love from all of us. Radhe Radhe 🙏 Siddharth
