As the artistic director of the @melbtheatreco since 2021, @annelouisesarks has used her first full season in the dual role to champion new Australian work, with her 2026 program comprising 10 local plays out of a total of 12 productions.
Such success was seen through My Brilliant Career, the musical she directed first in 2024 and brought back to acclaim, achieving record first-attendance, where more than 40 per cent of attendees had never seen an MTC show before.
The other shows drawing them in? New Australian stories.
“It feels like a great celebration of Australian theatre and ambition,” she tells us.
