This was the biggest outreach thus far at Light Of Life Rescue Mission. Each time we have the opportunity to serve there we TOP the previous time.
2.5-3 hours, 24 haircuts and lots of care.
Words can’t express what it means to uplift our neighbors with our gifts. If you’ve had the opportunity to ever get your hair done then you know the impact it can make and how it can boost your moral.
One thing RHS will do is serve the community. Whether 20+ plus ppl join in or if it’s 1 person, we will serve. Thankful for the stylists that joined in and our volunteers at the tables making sure everyone got your donations. Everyone left with a bag filled with hygiene products, toiletries, aluminum blankets, hats, scarves, underwear, brushes/combs, hand warmers, shoes, and so so much more.
To our people who donated, thank you- I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Your donations went where you weren’t able to and it was greatly appreciated.
The volunteers, thank you for taking time on a Monday during work to give freely. Sweep the floors, make sure every person got a bag and a haircut.
The RHS team & other stylists, you aren’t forced to come and you choose to wake up on your off day to give free haircuts. You come with a good attitude, giving your best and do what needs to be done to ensure every guest has a good experience in your chair there. Many laughs and moments we have to pivot but you remain in good spirits ready to go.
Thank you to our partners at UPMC that we have been able to create 3 successful events.
As the owner of RHS, I am proud that we are able to go beyond our four walls and be impactful. If anyone knows me, knows I have a heart for missions (community work) and helping others. Thank you Jesus, that I get the opportunity to share my gifts.
“10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
