• What is a Rhinebeck Sweater? There are as many descriptions as there are crafters. For me this Rhinebeck Sweater was a full circle moment. A very special moment.

The first time I trekked to the annual NY Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck, NY was back in 2016. I bought the ice blue Saxon Merino wool from Catskill Merino and stored it in my stash for someday. I purchased the green wool from the same vendor a year later at another smaller festival. Since then the founder of Catskill Merino, Eugene Wyatt, suddenly passed away in 2018, leaving all of us in the crafting world reeling and somber. Heavy hearted. His good friend and accidental shepherdess, Dominique, picked up the pieces and has run the farm with incredible care, success, grit, and heart.

Fast forward to today. I finally had a chance to visit the Rhinebeck Festival again after 10 years. I was determined to finish and wear this sweater with this special yarn and stop by Dominique’s booth.
