DO YOU KNOW THAT THESE WALLS TALK!? 🎨😂

One phase down, another one loading…

We’re moving into wall paint screeding!

Before the final coats of paint can give us that clean finish, the walls need the right preparation.

Because let’s be honest, paint can make a wall beautiful, but it won’t magically hide every surface defect. 😂

As we move into this phase, the focus is on proper surface preparation, a smooth finish and quality checks before painting begins.

The goal? A finish that looks good AND lasts.

My stakeholders, we’re moving! 🦺🙌🏾

What do you think is more important in achieving a perfect paint finish: the paint itself or the preparation before painting? 👀

Site-management lesson: Inspect, correct and approve before moving to the next activity. What clients hate- Rework after painting costs time and money. 😮‍💨

🔍 INSPECT BEFORE PAINTING Don’t rush straight into painting! Check for visible ridges, cracks, pinholes and uneven patches. Sand where appropriate, remove the dust, and ensure the surface is sufficiently dry before applying a compatible primer and paint system. Also, investigate any dampness before covering it up.

🎨 APPLY THE SCREED PROPERLY Use the specified wall-screeding material and follow the manufacturer’s mixing and application instructions. Apply it evenly, checking the surface with a straightedge and spirit level where appropriate to identify hollows, bumps and uneven areas. Allow each layer to dry or cure as specified before proceeding. The goal? A smooth, even surface—not just a wall that looks good from a distance. 👀

📍 PREPARE THE WALL Before paint screeding begins, inspect the wall for cracks, loose material, dampness and uneven surfaces. Remove dust and loose particles, then repair defects and allow the surface to dry properly. Remember: A good finish starts before the paint bucket is opened. 👷🏾‍♂️
