DO YOU KNOW THAT THESE WALLS TALK!? 🎨😂

One phase down, another one loading…

We’re moving into wall paint screeding!

Before the final coats of paint can give us that clean finish, the walls need the right preparation.

Because let’s be honest, paint can make a wall beautiful, but it won’t magically hide every surface defect. 😂

As we move into this phase, the focus is on proper surface preparation, a smooth finish and quality checks before painting begins.

The goal? A finish that looks good AND lasts.

My stakeholders, we’re moving! 🦺🙌🏾

What do you think is more important in achieving a perfect paint finish: the paint itself or the preparation before painting? 👀

100% COMPLETE. WE TILED IT! 😂🙌🏾

Remember when we started?

The material delays, the artisan changes, the generator wahala, the rain… and all the small-small surprises that come with managing a construction site. 😮‍💨😂

Well, guess what?

TILING WORKS ARE NOW 100% COMPLETE! 🎉

Every tile laid, every challenge navigated, and another phase closed out.

But here’s what this phase reminded me:

As a Project Manager, your job isn’t just to keep work moving. It’s to manage people, solve problems, protect quality and keep the project on track when things don’t go as planned.

And sometimes, you have to pause, reassess and get things right before moving forward.

One phase down. More work ahead. 🦺

My stakeholders, should we celebrate first or move straight to the next phase? 😂

I AM LEAVING INSTAGRAM 😭😂

I honestly don’t understand why you would build a bathroom without properly waterproofing the floor and wet areas.

So before I finally leave this gram for you… 😂

Here are 2 reasons you should waterproof your wet areas:

1️⃣ TO PREVENT WATER FROM FINDING ITS WAY INTO PLACES IT SHOULDN’T.

Bathrooms deal with water constantly.

Without proper waterproofing, water can seep through joints, cracks and porous surfaces into the screed and surrounding areas.

And trust me…

Water will always find a way. 😭

2️⃣ TO PREVENT FUTURE DAMAGE AND EXPENSIVE REPAIRS.

Water that gets underneath your finishes can eventually contribute to dampness, mould, deterioration of finishes and damage to adjoining areas.

And when the problem finally shows itself?

You may be removing tiles you thought were perfectly fine. 😮‍💨

That’s why waterproofing isn’t something to think about after the bathroom starts leaking.

It should be part of the construction process before the finishes go in.

As Project Managers, we’re not just watching tiles being laid.

We’re thinking about what happens underneath them, what happens next, and what could go wrong if we get the sequence wrong.

So yes…

I AM LEAVING LINKEDIN. 😂

But before I go, let me continue telling you these site stories.

If this is how I have to share what we’re learning on site, I’d gladly take it. 🦺❤️

📍 SITE NOTES 🦺 | EPISODE 13

Have you ever walked on a tiled floor and suddenly felt a “hollow” sound under your feet?

Well, the FLOOR TILING BEGUN TODAY! 🧱

But what causes that gap underneath those tiles?🤔

Let me walk you through it…

If the floor isn’t properly prepared, tiles may not have enough contact with the screed or adhesive.

That can create voids underneath and nobody wants that. 😭

So today, we paid attention to the basics.

We checked our levels, falls and slopes using our range/straightedge, spirit level and other setting-out tools to make sure the floor was properly levelled and ramped where necessary.

Then we carefully applied the adhesive and positioned the tiles to achieve proper contact and a solid finish.

The goal?

No unnecessary voids.
No rocking tiles.
No “hollow” surprises. 😂

Because beautiful tiling isn’t just about what you see on top.

It’s about what’s happening!

Did you learn a thing with my stories today?🦺

Have you ever experienced that hollow sound under a tiled floor?

We at @iseedconstruction will never let you experience that on your floors!

📍 SITE NOTES 🦺 | EPISODE 11

THE RESULTS WERE OUT. I WASN’T READY. 😂

I was on site when I saw the message in our group chat.

“Our results are out.”

My heart? 📉

Last semester was a roller coaster of events, and I wasn't sure I wanted to find out how it ended. 😂

But that story is for another day.

Back to the site…

Tiling has officially started! 🧱

We’re working with a new set of artisans, which means I’ve had to spend time understanding their work, communication and approach.

It’s a process.

But we’re making considerable progress, and that’s what matters. 🙌🏾

One day, one tile, one lesson at a time.

Have you ever delayed checking your results because you weren’t ready for what you might see? 😂

Happy Friday, my stakeholders! 🫶🏾
