TRAGEDY ON THE TARMAC: SOMALI POLICE CHIEF’S BODYGUARD KILLED IN RUNWAY ACCIDENT

A routine arrival turned into a fatal disaster at Dhusamareb Airport when a security detail member assigned to Mogadishu Police Chief Ma’alin Mahdi lost his life in a catastrophic aircraft propeller incident.

The officer, identified as Mukhtar Qasim Samay, had just disembarked from the aircraft when he inadvertently moved toward the area of the still-rotating engine propeller. The chief and his security team had flown into the region ahead of upcoming political leadership ceremonies.

The shocking sequence—captured on airport surveillance and bystander footage—has triggered urgent questions regarding ground-control protocols, passenger evacuation safety, and why engines remained active during disembarkation.
