BIG UPDATE: The president has signed the bipartisan spending package into law that includes a $100 million increase for Alzheimer’s and dementia research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and $41.5 million for implementation of the BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in fiscal year 2026. 🎆 With the $100 million funding increase now finalized, the total annual federal investment in Alzheimer’s and dementia research will be approximately $3.9 billion. The BOLD funding represents the highest annual investment since the law was enacted, strengthening the nation’s public health response to Alzheimer’s and other dementia in communities across the country. This victory belongs to every #ENDALZ advocate who raised their voice in support of this important investment. This wouldn’t have been possible without your dedication to the cause. 💜
Mom would have been 90 today. Going through old photos and videos, I came upon these magical memories. Many of you often tell me how much you miss her spunk. So, in honor of her birthday — here are a few of my favorites. From fighting Covid masks to smuggling bourbon, she brought us all together. #oklahoma #endalz #alzheimers #mom #memories
😢 I wrote “Blank Stares” in 2017 after my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She was only 51, and it took her from us less than 3 years later. After she passed, I dedicated my life to raising awareness and funds for the fight against dementia. It’s been a long road, but moments like this make it all worth it. #ENDALZ @1039theboot

Walking just 3,000–5,000 steps a day may help delay cognitive decline by up to three years in people at higher risk for Alzheimer’s disease. Mass General Brigham researchers—Reisa Sperling, MD, Wai-Ying Wendy Yau, MD, and Jasmeer Chhatwal, MD, PhD—analyzed pedometer data, repeated brain scans and cognitive assessments from 296 adults aged 50-90 years old who were all cognitively unimpaired at the beginning of the study. They break down the encouraging findings and what they mean for building cognitive resilience.
Mahalo @alzassociation for having me 💜 Did you know that currently, nearly 100,000 kūpuna and other individuals in Hawaii are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease, or another form of dementia? With YOUR help, we can #ENDALZ Mahalo NUI Jerry Tarantola for doing such an amazing job capturing this year’s #MauiWalk2EndALZ at @qkcmaui!
First snow of the season! ❄️ I had a sweet memory from this snow.... anytime my dad saw some sort of interesting weather in northern Indiana he would call me up. I can imagine him saying "it's snowing like mad Tara. The flakes are huge!" Most of the time he used colorful words and it wasn't that bad but he always had to share. I'm sure he would say I can't believe it's snowing! Bundle up tomorrow morning! See you cold, dark and early. #endalz #inwx #indywx #caregivermemory
Today is the @alznycc Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Central Park. Last year, in front of thousands of people, I decided to share a very personal moment with my Grandfather, the late Dr. John Stewart. Through all my times speaking infront of crowds and on TV, I’ve never had a moment hit me as hard as it did right then. 💜 I held two flowers - one as a volunteer and and another as someone who had lost someone to Alzheimer’s. I spoke about how the disease had affected me - from teaching younger students when I was in high school what it was like for someone dealing with the disease, so they could better understand it and still have a relationship with family members, to then seeing its devastating effects first hand dealing with the disease, when my grandfather was diagnosed. I know so many of us have seen this awful disease affect our loved ones. There’s no sugar coating it, it’s tragic. But… I am filled with hope. Because I know how research and clinical trials are helping us get closer to a cure. If you have or had a family or friend dealing with this disease, I see you and I empathize with you. I support the work being done to help everything we can do to prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s, help those currently dealing with it to have a better today, and raise awareness to building a better future for all of us. Please consider donating anything to help assist in the ground breaking research and treatment that is being developed everyday. ➡️ https://www.alz.org/nyc #endalz #alzheimerassociation #alzheimers
💪🏼 Last night I performed at Era of Hope Gala in my new home of Phoenix, AZ to help fight against the disease that stole my mother. I felt mom’s spirit in that room, and to say that my family and I were embraced, is an understatement. @alzdsw #endalz #dementia #phoenix
