A Baltimore County jury has convicted Von Taylor, 28, of Pikesville, for his role in orchestrating a 2024 shooting that left his romantic rival with life-altering injuries.
Taylor was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and two firearm offenses. He faces a potential life sentence.
According to prosecutors, Taylor arranged for two men to carry out the attack against a man who was dating the mother of two of Taylor’s children. The woman was also pregnant with Taylor’s child at the time, although the victim reportedly believed the baby was his.
The gunman pursued the victim as he attempted to escape, shooting him multiple times in the chest, arms, legs and neck. The injuries left the victim dependent on a wheelchair.
Taylor was not accused of firing the weapon himself. Prosecutors argued that he helped coordinate the attack and knew what was about to happen.
Cellphone records showed Taylor repeatedly calling the woman in the period leading up to the shooting. Prosecutors also presented a message he sent to a friend two days afterward, indicating that the victim had survived. The message accompanied a $1 Cash App payment and read, “He not gone fool.”
Following the shooting, Taylor allegedly left the scene with the two men. He later told investigators that Bullet and Cruddy had effectively held him against his will while driving toward Cherry Hill.
The woman reportedly called 911, stayed with the wounded victim and cooperated with investigators.
Although prosecutors identified the two men as alleged participants, neither has been charged in connection with the case, according to the information presented at trial.
