The five boroughs have never seen a place with quite as much Texas pedigree as the eagerly anticipated Kirbee’s BBQ. The restaurant, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, is a collaboration between two @texasmonthly Top 50 pitmasters: Jonny White, formerly of Goldee’s Barbecue, in Fort Worth (which was the number one joint in 2021), and Chuck Charnichart, of Barbs B Q, in Lockhart. And it’s no mere part-time spin-off, as both White and Charnicart have moved to New York. Named in part after White’s dog, Kirbee’s is in a small space on McGuiness Boulevard, with neighbors that include a print shop and a custom car-stereo installer. But despite the intersection’s garage-y vibe, you won’t find an outdoor pit or offset smoker there. All of the Kirbee’s meats are cooked in smoker ovens, using post oak chips. 🍖 More on the joint and their linear menu at the link in our bio. 📸: Scott Lynch
Scorpios don't just show up to an event, they make an entrance that has people looking twice without even realizing they're staring. They could walk into a room full of people they don't know, say absolutely nothing, and somehow become the person everyone is curious about. It's not even always about what they're wearing, although Scorpio will rarely show up looking like they didn't put any thought into their appearance. It's the energy they carry. They have this way of looking completely unbothered while quietly observing everything happening around them. They're noticing who keeps looking at them, who's acting differently around certain people, who's being fake, and who's trying a little too hard to get attention. Meanwhile, everyone else is still figuring out where to sit. 😂 Scorpio doesn't need to be the loudest person in the room because they understand that being mysterious can be far more interesting than telling everybody everything about themselves. They'll look stunning, keep their conversations selective, give people just enough attention to be polite, and leave before anyone gets the chance to figure them out completely. And if someone catches their eye, they'll make it look so effortless that nobody can tell whether they're flirting or simply being nice. The funniest part is that Scorpio might spend the entire event looking intimidating, only to go home and never think about half the people who were busy thinking about them. Scorpio doesn't chase the spotlight at every function. They just walk in, become the plot, and leave everyone else wondering what just happened. 🖤🪽♏ #scorpio #horoscope #zodiac #explore #astrology
🦀🌟 Bookmail Spotlight: There are No Giant Crabs in this Novel, by @jasonkpargin 🩷 Thank you to: @stmartinspress ✒️ First Sentence: "Just as a fun little thought experiment, imagine a man kidnaps your entire family and slowly tortures them to death over the course of several weeks." 👏 Why I Want To Read This: This sounds like the most perfect horror-mystery-oddity read. I haven't read anything by Jason Pargin before but he's been on my list for a while. I love when horror and comedy are blended and I can't wait to read this. 🗓 Pub Date: November 3, 2026 📚 Storygraph Blurb: New York Times bestselling author Jason Pargin's nightmarishly hilarious John Dies at the End series is back to entertain all who dare enter. A massive, sticky pile of severed human limbs suddenly appears in the parking lot of a vacant department store in a desolate small town. A set of footprints is found trailing away in the snow, as if a single pair of bare feet had wandered off the pile. If this wasn’t puzzling enough, the cops soon find that no one seems to be missing the limbs. Some of the fingerprints on the severed arms belong to living people with all their appendages intact, others match no one on file, and the rest of the limbs somehow have no prints at all. This sounds like a case for local weirdos John, David, and Amy, partly because the cops don’t want the headache and partly because David’s own arm is in the pile, despite an identical copy of it still being attached to his body. When a mysterious man then shows up at David’s home claiming to be in pursuit of an entity he calls “the Penetrator,” it seems clear the trio is in for a long weekend. In addition to stopping whatever this nonsense is, the gang will also have to quell the panicked headlines that threaten to ensue, which could prompt the feds to try to just wipe the whole town off the map (again). As such, the first thing you need to know is that, contrary to whatever ugly rumors you may have heard, there are no giant crabs in this novel. 💭Fill in the blank, "There are no giant..."
