🇳🇿 AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND TO HOST 2030 IVF WORLD SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIPS

The International Va’a Federation (IVF) is pleased to announce that Aotearoa @wakaamanz will host the 2030 IVF World Sprint Championships in March 2030, following the approval of its bid by IVF membership this week.

A global powerhouse in waka ama, Aotearoa New Zealand has a proud history of hosting international va’a competitions, first hosting the IVF World Championships at Ōrākei in 1990 and more recently the 2006 IVF World Sprint Championships at Lake Karāpiro.

The 2030 event will mark the return of the IVF World Sprint Championships to Aotearoa, bringing together the world’s best paddlers to compete on home waters and celebrating the nation’s deep-rooted Pacific paddling heritage, strong event infrastructure and passion for waka ama.

Aotearoa New Zealand will host the World Sprint Championships in March 2030, while the Cook Islands will host the 2028 IVF World Distance Championships in November 2028.
