One of my favourite body parts to get tattooed to date was my head. Painful as absolute F*€K, but totally worth it! My self-esteem took such a hit when my perimenopausal greasy straggly hair started to fall out. I felt super insecure and like I was no longer attractive. I wanted to reclaim my confidence and redefine myself in this changing body on my terms. 🥵 I shaved my head, tattooed it, and now wear fun wigs in my favourite colour, which is obviously teal. (((Can’t recommend this enough!)))
I also completely changed up my style, and this account is sort of a working diary of me figuring out these changes in real time.
I want you all to know that if you feel like you are alone, you are detinitely not! There are so many women sharing their stories with me. It is making me realize that hair loss in our 40s and 50s is completely normal, but it is so stigmatized and women feel shameful, when it is a normal part of our hormone changes and there is nothing at all to be ashamed of! I am here to try in my small way to destigmatize taking back your confidence through trying out new things that bring you joy, and doing them on your own terms!
