“The Central Valley Nourished My Childhood” 2026 Lithography 12x16
I freaking finally got to draw draw this semester. I’ve been craving it, deep in my bones. Don’t get me wrong, I love a woodcut. But there’s something about using a crayon on litho stone that feeds my soul.
This print is homage to my childhood growing up in the Central Valley. My childhood was slow, present, quiet, warm, safe, filled with love because of the people who filled it. The people is what makes a place and here in the CV it is filled with great ones.
In this post you can see the progression of this print as I busted my ass over the past two weeks or so. I used the sharpie flat technique to add color. I asked professor, Francisco Alonso, one hundred and one questions. I had kinda forgotten the technique but once I got going it was like riding a bike again.
This piece was commissioned by
@powercanow who gave me full liberty of the image, the only thing they wanted is to show love to Fresno. And I said, piece of cake, cause I do love Fresno. Thank you @powercanow for the opportunity to be a part of a beautiful and empowering event in the Tower District last night. Thank you to my family and friends who came out to support and show love. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. It meant so much to me.
