SECURITY IN THE REAL WORLD - EPISODE 06
A NEW TITLE IS NOT A NEW CAREER.
This question came up in the ASIS Executive Protection community this week: how do you move from executive protection into corporate security?
In protection you learn to read a room, plan a route and decide under pressure. Those instincts are real, and they travel. But a corporate role asks a different question. Not only "is this person safe", but "what risk will this business accept, what will it cost, and who needs to agree".
I see people make the move well when they learn the second part: how to brief a boardroom as clearly as a principal, how to write risk in business terms, and how to own a programme rather than a single detail.
The protection background opens the door. The corporate thinking is what keeps you in the room.
If you made that move, what was the hardest part to learn?
