LESSONS UNDER PRESSURE - EPISODE 13 CALM IS A DECISION. I learned this on a day when the plan changed before we had finished briefing it. Everyone looked at each other, waiting for someone to steady the room. The situation had not changed. Only our confidence in the plan had. So I slowed it down. I said what we knew, what we did not know, and what the next step was. Nothing clever. Just clear words, in the right order, at a normal pace. That is what calm actually is. It is not the absence of pressure. It is a decision you make in the middle of it, and then you give other people something steady to follow. Pressure will test the plan you have, not the one you wish you had. Make the next decision well, and the one after it gets easier. What helps you stay steady when a plan changes mid-task? #LessonsUnderPressure #SecurityLeadership #PhysicalSecurity #RiskManagement #ASIS #CPP #PSP #PCI #SecureMoveAcademy by @ahmadraza_cpp
TRUST IS BUILT QUIETLY. People do not trust a leader because of a title or a speech. They trust him because he did what he said he would do, in small moments, when it was inconvenient. I have seen that in teams under pressure and in corporate roles alike. A promised follow up that actually happens. A difficult truth told early instead of late. A junior colleague backed in the room, not only praised afterwards. Those moments are easy to skip when you are busy. They are also the ones people remember. What small moment built trust for you? by @ahmadraza_cpp
SECURITY IN THE REAL WORLD - EPISODE 06 A NEW TITLE IS NOT A NEW CAREER. This question came up in the ASIS Executive Protection community this week: how do you move from executive protection into corporate security? In protection you learn to read a room, plan a route and decide under pressure. Those instincts are real, and they travel. But a corporate role asks a different question. Not only "is this person safe", but "what risk will this business accept, what will it cost, and who needs to agree". I see people make the move well when they learn the second part: how to brief a boardroom as clearly as a principal, how to write risk in business terms, and how to own a programme rather than a single detail. The protection background opens the door. The corporate thinking is what keeps you in the room. If you made that move, what was the hardest part to learn? by @ahmadraza_cpp
A new milestone in my professional journey. My article, “Security Momentum: When Security Controls Outlive the Risks They Were Designed For,” has been published in International Security Journal (ISJ). Security is not just about adding more controls. It is about making sure those controls remain relevant to the risks an organization actually faces. As risks change, security measures must change with them. Otherwise, organizations may continue investing in controls that no longer address their real vulnerabilities. In this article, I explore why security professionals must regularly question existing controls, reassess risks and ensure that security keeps pace with the changing environment. I am grateful to International Security Journal for publishing my work and giving me the opportunity to contribute to the wider security profession. This is one more step in my journey of learning, sharing experience and contributing to better security management. SECURITY IN THE REAL WORLD - EPISODE 04 A SECURITY POLICY IS USELESS IF PEOPLE DON'T FOLLOW IT. An organization may have excellent security policies. It may have access control systems, CCTV, trained guards and detailed procedures. But there is one question we should ask: Are people actually following the rules? An employee may hold the door open for someone without checking their identity. A visitor may enter a restricted area because nobody wants to challenge them. A security guard may ignore a procedure because “nothing has ever happened before.” These actions may seem small, but they can create serious gaps in security. The problem is not always the absence of security measures. Sometimes, the problem is how people use them. This is why security awareness, supervision and accountability are just as important as equipment and written policies. A policy on paper does not protect an organization by itself. People must understand it, follow it and take responsibility for it. #security #problems #risk #riskmanagement #management #crisis #emergency by @ahmadraza_cpp
SECURITY IN THE REAL WORLD - EPISODE 03 More guards. More cameras. More barriers. More procedures. Does that always mean better security? Not necessarily. Security should not be measured by how many security measures an organization has. It should be measured by whether those measures are addressing the right risks. Sometimes an organization spends heavily on one area while a much bigger vulnerability is sitting somewhere else. For example, adding another security guard may not solve a problem caused by poor access control. More CCTV may not help if nobody is monitoring or responding to what the cameras show. Another procedure may not improve security if employees don't understand or follow it. Good security is not about adding more. It is about asking: What is the actual risk? What are we trying to protect? What control will reduce that risk most effectively? Security should be proportionate, practical and risk based. Because sometimes the best security improvement is not another layer. It is a better one. #security #leaders #leadershiptraining #leadershipdevelopment #crisis #asisinternational #risk #emergency by @ahmadraza_cpp
SECURITY IN THE REAL WORLD - EPISODE 02 A security professional can know everything about CCTV, access control and guards. But if he doesn't understand the business, something is missing. Every organization is different. A hospital has different risks from a shopping mall. A manufacturing facility has different priorities from a corporate office. An airport has different security challenges from a financial institution. So, security should not start with: “What security system should we install?” It should start with: “What are we trying to protect, and what could stop this business from operating?” People. Assets. Information. Operations. Reputation. Business continuity. Once we understand the business, we can identify the risks and decide where security resources are actually needed. That is when security becomes more than a protective function. It becomes part of the business. Know the business. Understand the risk. Then build the security. #security #leaders #risk #riskmanagement #securitysystem #timemanagement #crisis #emergency #prepare #secure by @ahmadraza_cpp

Security in the Real World - Episode 01 Is security a cost or an investment? I have seen security discussed many times as an expense. Guards. CCTV. Access control. Security systems. Training. The question is usually: “How much will this cost?” But I believe there is another question that deserves equal attention: “What could it cost us if we get security wrong?” A security program is not only about preventing incidents. It protects people. It protects assets. It supports business continuity. And it gives an organization the ability to operate with greater confidence. Good security should not simply add layers of protection. It should understand the business, identify the real risks, and focus resources where they matter most. That is where security moves from being an expense to becoming part of the business strategy. Security should support the business, not stand apart from it. #SecurityManagement #CorporateSecurity #RiskManagement #PhysicalSecurity #BusinessContinuity #SecurityLeadership #SecurityInTheRealWorld by @ahmadraza_cpp
LESSONS UNDER PRESSURE - EPISODE 12 THE INCIDENT STARTS BEFORE THE INCIDENT. A lot of people think security begins when something happens. An alarm goes off. Someone reports a threat. An emergency starts. But in my experience, the real work starts much earlier. It starts with planning. It starts with asking the difficult questions. It starts with identifying weak points before someone finds them for you. Many security problems do not suddenly appear. The warning signs were already there. Sometimes they were ignored. Sometimes nobody owned them. Sometimes everyone assumed, “It will be fine.” That is why I believe good security is not only about responding quickly. It is about seeing the problem before it becomes an incident. That lesson has stayed with me throughout my career. Security is not just about reacting to what happens. It is about preparing for what could happen. #leaders #leadershipcoaching #coretraining #crisis #security #risk #emergency #cctv #sensors #physicalsecurity #privatesecurity by @ahmadraza_cpp
Lessons Under Pressure — Episode 11 “Experience Can Make You Careless.” Experience is valuable. But sometimes, experience can become a trap. When you have done something many times, you start thinking you already know what will happen. You stop checking. You stop questioning. You start relying on memory instead of the situation in front of you. I learned that experience should make you more alert, not less. Every situation is different. Every environment changes. And sometimes, the thing you have seen a hundred times is exactly where you need to pay the most attention. Experience should build confidence. But confidence should never replace attention. The moment you think you have seen everything is the moment you may miss something important. #leadershiptraining #risk #security #crisis #certification #leaders #emergency by @ahmadraza_cpp
Lessons Under Pressure - Episode 10 The Decision Nobody Wants To Make. During my service, I learned that some decisions don't have a perfect answer. Sometimes, both options carry risk. You can wait for more information. Or you can make the decision with what you have. The hardest part isn't making the decision. It's accepting responsibility for it afterward. That changed how I look at leadership. A leader cannot always guarantee the outcome. But a leader can make sure the decision is: Thought through. Based on the facts available. And owned completely. Because leadership isn't about always making the right decision. It's about having the courage to make one when a decision has to be made. #leaders #leadershipféminin #leadershipcoaching #pressure #trainingday #risk #riskmanagement #crisis by @ahmadraza_cpp
