WHAT THE FUCK IS A TASTE LEVEL?

The most important technique or tool in your tool belt will always be your taste level! Loving the style of work you do, understanding why you love it and going all in to develop it!!! that is the key to a long and happy career. It doesn’t matter what side of the wheel you are, modern, classic or even balanced, once you’re done learning how to cut hair, that’s when the journey really begins, it gets better as you get stronger and you may even learn to appreciate other tastes and respect what lies behind them, it doesn’t mean you have to do them. I have friends all over the world in this industry, some do unbelievable work, visually I hate it, but technically I fucking LOVE how they do it, that’s what makes this craft of ours so fucking great, a common respect to everyone who does it right🙏🏻

I've got long hair, I cannot find any Barber near me that can cut long hair good enough, I sit there watching them trying to cut mine and I'm like 😬 " not how I'd cut it" so I go months even a year without a haircut unfortunately 😅 they all just like doing the modern TikTok trends instead of being able to be an all rounder skilled Barber

Just nailed it - too many replication barbers - no authenticity. Best one yet JB 🙌

Spot on Johnny. Technique gets you in the game, but taste level is what keeps you passionate 25 years deep. You can appreciate the technical discipline and execution of a style even if it’s not what you’d wear or cut yourself. Respecting the mechanics while staying true to your own eye is what real trade identity is all about.
