I’m a photographer who cares about the light being perfect. The posing, the expressions, the focus. I want everything to be just right.

That’s also why I usually recommend my 30-minute Christmas sessions for families of two adults and up to two children.

And then there’s this family.

I think this is our fourth Christmas together. When they first came to me, there were four boys. Now there are five.

Every single year, I welcome them back with my heart wide open.

And every single year, so many of the things I’ve spent years learning, the rules, the precision, the need to control every little detail, I simply let go of.

I let them be themselves.

And the parents don’t care about perfection either. They just want memories of their boys, exactly as they are right now.

And somehow, we always end up with a pretty perfect, imperfect gallery.

I’ll gladly photograph them for many more years to come.

At this point, let’s just see how many children I can fit into my Christmas setup. 😂
