Greetings from the Old Rectory, where the autumn sunlight has cast a golden glow over the garden and meadows today, so that the natural colours of the landscape seemed bright as a painter’s palette, until the gathering dusk of an afternoon twilight. Meanwhile, I’m feeling relieved to have finished two writing deadlines - in between several restorative walks with Juno - and I celebrated by baking a sticky gingerbread, in anticipation of the beloved family arriving tomorrow. I always follow an excellent recipe from @nigellalawson - returning to my well-thumbed copy of her brilliant book, β€œHow to be a Domestic Goddess” - but my only variation is to add organic blackstrap molasses instead of golden syrup and black treacle (I substitute a 350g jar of molasses for Nigella’s suggested 200g of black treacle and 200g of golden syrup). I also add double the amount of chopped fresh ginger - four teaspoons instead of two - and stir in a teaspoon of powdered ginger, as well as the ground cinnamon. Meanwhile, I’m reheating Monday’s venison casserole for our supper, with the addition of some sliced mushrooms - and then we’re going to watch another episode of the new season of β€œLupin” on Netflix (which is so good). Happy Wednesday, everyone, and I’m sending warm wishes, as always, and waving from the Waveney Valley…

The difference between average and elite was never talent. It’s how long you’re willing to sacrifice. β³πŸ’Ž β € High performers understand something most people never accept. Real progress is expensive. It costs weekends, vacations, nights out and years where nobody sees what you’re building. β € Plenty of people are willing to sacrifice too. For a week. Maybe a month. Then life gets comfortable, they step off, and a few months later they start again, wondering why nothing has changed. β € It’s like getting on a treadmill for a minute, stepping off, and starting over a thousand times. You feel tired, so you assume you’ve done the work. But you never stayed on long enough for any of it to add up. β € The people at the top didn’t always work harder in a single day. They just never stepped off. Many of them gave up their twenties without a real vacation, and they were fine with that, because they knew exactly what it was buying. β € Consistency never looks impressive while you’re doing it. It only looks impressive years later, when everyone’s asking how you got there. β € Progress doesn’t reward the people who start the most. It rewards the ones who never stop. β € Follow @Wealth to learn valuable advice every time you open Instagram. ⭐ β € #Wealth #Discipline #Consistency #Success #Mindset
