We said goodbye to Bentley this morning after 17 wonderful years.

His story started in a shelter, where he was an owner surrender named Alvin. He came home with me and went on to move all over the country with us, there through so many homes and chapters of our lives.

Bentley technically “failed” boarding school because, while he learned everything they taught him, he really only cared to listen to me. 😂 He was stubborn, incredibly smart, and very much my dog.

Somehow, that stubborn little shelter dog also became a certified therapy dog. He earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine certifications and spent years volunteering at Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House, bringing comfort to others until he retired.

Saying goodbye this morning was incredibly hard. I’m going to miss him more than I can put into words.
