We said goodbye to Bentley this morning after 17 wonderful years. His story started in a shelter, where he was an owner surrender named Alvin. He came home with me and went on to move all over the country with us, there through so many homes and chapters of our lives. Bentley technically “failed” boarding school because, while he learned everything they taught him, he really only cared to listen to me. 😂 He was stubborn, incredibly smart, and very much my dog. Somehow, that stubborn little shelter dog also became a certified therapy dog. He earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine certifications and spent years volunteering at Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House, bringing comfort to others until he retired. Saying goodbye this morning was incredibly hard. I’m going to miss him more than I can put into words. We love you, Bentley. 🐾 #dogsarethebest #heaven #cockapoo #rescuedog #therapydog by @katy_pitkin
Some seasons change so quietly you don’t notice they’re leaving. The same front door. The same first day tradition. Five years of different versions of them. And somewhere between the pictures, they grew. Maybe that’s the reminder. You don’t have to hold on tighter. You just have to be here while it’s yours. Because one day, these ordinary days will be the ones you miss. #siblings #firstdayofschool #makingmemories❤️ #kids #growingup by @katy_pitkin
