Looking through all these old show posters really reminded me how special the 2010s were for American reggae. There were so many bands, so many shows, and it felt like there was a real community around the music with people of all ages involved.

What stands out to me the most is how different everyone sounded. Sure, it wasn’t always traditional roots reggae, but I think that was part of what made the era so interesting. Bands were pulling influence from rock, punk, hip-hop, pop and dub, and trying to create something that felt like their own.

There was just a lot of experimentation and creativity happening at the same time.

Looking back now, it really does feel like a special chapter in American reggae.

Do you think the 2010s were a golden era for American reggae music?

I agree it was such an amazing era. Big ups to Tribal Seeds! A lot of these current Cali reggae bands wouldn’t exist without their influence 🙌 🔥
