Does your ERAS photo really matter?

My advice: take it seriously, but don’t overthink it. You don’t need an expensive photographer—just aim for a polished, professional photo that represents you well.

Anecdotally, most programs I’ve talked to screen photos during application review—but not all do. Some reviewers may see your photo before deciding whether to interview you.

As someone who reviews residency applications, I don’t think it should influence your chances—but why leave it to chance? 📸

Absolutely matters. Have you heard of this study? https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31149924/

I should’ve taken it more seriously for my residency and fellowship apps because those photos can get used as your hospital badge ID or posted on social medical for match day posts by the programs 🫠
