Being the woman who was financially supporting her husband wasn’t exactly the conventional marriage story I imagined for myself. But I wasn’t keeping score. I wanted him to become debt-free so we could finally plan our future together without the weight of medical school loans holding us back. I thought we were building something together. I share this not because I’m ashamed of the choices I made, but because I know how easy it is to confuse being a supportive partner with carrying more than you should. You can be independent, generous, and believe in someone’s potential without sacrificing your own financial security. Love shouldn’t require you to abandon protecting yourself. And if you’ve ever looked back and wondered how you didn’t see the signs, please give yourself grace. You made decisions based on what you believed was true at the time. 🤍 This isn’t tea. It’s a conversation more of us need to have—especially as Desi women, when we’re often taught to protect the marriage before we protect ourselves. You can be a good partner and still have boundaries. You can love someone and still ask questions. Both can be true. Part 4 of Who TF Did I Marry?! 🤍 #WhoTFDidIMarry #DesiWomen #FinancialAwareness #DivorceHealing #ChoosingYourself
📍 700 Park Ave 🔰🙂‍↕️ There’s something about an HBCU homecoming that you just can’t recreate anywhere else. The old roommates linking back up, the sorors and fraters standing ten toes in their letters, the alumni pulling up like they never left, and generations of Spartans all coming together in one place. The music, the fashion, the food, the handshakes, the line dances … it’s bigger than a tailgate. It’s culture, it’s tradition, it’s home. And NSU? We know how to make it feel like one big family reunion. Everybody got a story, everybody got somebody to see, and somewhere in between all the noise and nostalgia, you’re reminded why this culture means so much to us. This just my piece of the moment. A visual love letter to the people, the culture, and the memories that keep bringing us back. Until next year, BIG STATE. 🤝🏾💚💛
