Our young advocates are showing what advocacy can look like in action.
This week, our Gray Matters chapters at Rocky High School and Illinois State University showed up for mental health in their own ways.
At Rocky, students welcomed Mr. Dunker to share openly about his own experiences with mental health, creating space for an honest conversation and reminding students of the power of hearing someone say, “I’ve been there, too.”
At Illinois State, students gathered for their September meeting, building community, making connections and continuing to create a place on campus where conversations about mental health belong.
This is what our chapters are all about. Not asking young people to have all the answers, but giving them the tools and opportunities to start conversations, connect people to resources and make mental health visible in the places they already live, learn and belong.
Advocacy doesn’t have to look the same everywhere, it just has to start somewhere.
We are so proud of Rocky Gray Matters and Illinois State Gray Matters for putting advocacy into action this week. The future of mental health advocacy isn’t waiting for young people. They’re already leading it.
