During the filming of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Robert Patrick, who played the terrifying liquid-metal T-1000, was so fast that he accidentally ruined one of the movie’s most iconic chase scenes. While filming the sequence where John Connor, played by Edward Furlong, escapes on his dirt bike, Patrick actually caught up with the young actor during the very first take. Director James Cameron was stunned by his speed, leaving Patrick wondering what he was supposed to do now that he’d caught the kid he was meant to chase.

Fun fact: Patrick trained four times a day to prepare for the role and practiced running without showing any signs of exhaustion. He deliberately kept his mouth closed and breathed through his nose to make the T-1000 appear like an unstoppable machine. His dedication worked a little too well—if that first take had been the actual movie, John Connor’s escape would have ended almost immediately!
