11 minutes agoWe need to stop electing young men like this to office when they become old men with the same viewpoints smh
28 minutes agoWhile social welfare programs absolutely do bolster economic prosperity, it’s depressing that the premise of arguing about these programs is couched in economic benefit. Is it so unfathomable that the modern version of the U.S. government could maintain a program that is solely for the good of its citizens?
an hour agoWhy is religion so much brought up with Republicans?!?!? It makes people not trust God or Jesus when people who claim to be of God stand by people who want to take and take and kick people down. They hide behind a Bible. That is not who God is. God is love. But mostly why is religion being brought up in politics in the first place ! (I bring this up because I had seen him start speaking on Jesus)
4 hours agoAside from the obvious, Medicaid and Medicare are vital parts of the healthcare infrastructure. If you cut those programs doctors, hospitals, care facilities, etc don’t get paid. . . which surprise, does impact the economy

5 hours agoEconomic benefit being more important than Medicaid would be an example of the war on the poor.

6 hours agoHim framing it as an economic issue rather than a humanitarian one, right off the bat, is already telling. But, sure. We can entertain that angle. If he really gave a shit about the deficit he’d advocate to adequately tax the billionaires and corporations. The difference that would make to the deficit would be exponentially higher than literally taking food out of the mouths of poor kids. But yeah, the hungry, sick and dying aren’t exactly contributing economically. Regardless of whatever distinction he failed to articulate between poor beneficiaries or the working class paying into them. Neither can afford healthcare. Throwing millions of people into medical debt by kicking them off Medicare, again not exactly helping the deficit or economy writ large. Caring for them allows them to continue to contribute, even if doing so has a cost. The cheap alternative is letting them starve and die. Sure, you’ll save a little money by not caring for them. But, in the long run they can’t pay taxes cause they’re dead, dipshit. Seeing as that’s the course of action he’s actively defending, pretty safe to say: he hates poor people.
7 hours agosometimes you just have to be embarrassed at the fact that this shit has to be explained like “how does a healthy workforce benefit the economy?” what dog
