Now THAT’S how you close out a summer. 🤘

The Goonies brought the party to I Bar Ranch, and you brought one of the best crowds of the season.

Thank you for singing, dancing, and making this last night one to remember. What a summer.

Dharapuram (no. 101) is a Scheduled Caste reserved Assembly constituency in Tiruppur district. In the 2026 general election, AIADMK’s P. Sathyabama won it with 81,100 votes, a 40.56% share, taking the seat from the DMK, while TVK’s candidate polled 46,438 votes (23.23%). That win was short-lived. Sathyabama held the seat only from May 11 to May 25, 2026, when she was one of three AIADMK MLAs who quit their posts and joined TVK. Her resignation triggered the bypoll.

Voting is on October 6 and counting on October 9. The government has declared polling day a public holiday in the constituency, and offices and educational institutions there will be closed. It is a five-cornered contest between TVK, AIADMK, DMK, Naam Tamilar Katchi and the CPI. The candidates are Sathyabama for TVK, Sukanya for DMK, K. Bhanumathi for AIADMK and Lakshmanan for CPI, with Karthika standing for NTK. [ECI announces by-polls in TN’s Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly seats on Oct 6.

The stakes go beyond one seat. TVK, now the ruling party under Chief Minister Vijay, lacks an outright majority, so wins in Dharapuram and Madurantakam would strengthen the government’s position. The DMK and AIADMK have both turned their campaigns sharply against Sathyabama, trying to shift the debate from Vijay’s larger narrative to everyday constituency concerns. Her resignation so soon after winning has also drawn protests in some places during campaigning. The DMK and AIADMK have rejected allegations that they made a deal to defeat TVK. [Vijay’s TVK faces a key test in Dharapuram bypoll.

The central question is whether she can carry her personal vote base from the AIADMK to TVK, or whether voters will punish a mid-term party switch. Results on October 9 will show which way the seat goes. #dharapuram

If you’re ordering spring bulbs, put THESE at the top of your list…

Yesterday I started making my list of spring bulbs to order, and these beauties were right at the top.

Allium Purple Sensation has to be one of my favourite spring bulbs, and every year I plant more.

Those gorgeous purple pom-pom flowers bring height, colour and a little bit of magic to the garden. They’re fabulous planted in groups, especially along a path, where you can enjoy them as you walk through the garden.

And there are so many reasons to love them…

💜 Beautiful, architectural flowers that make a real statement.

💜 Lovely, rich purple colour that works beautifully in a cottage garden.

💜 Brilliant for bees and other pollinators. 🐝

💜 Easy to grow and, in the right conditions, they’ll come back year after year.

💜 Gorgeous with hardy geraniums and other spring and early summer flowers.

They’re also a wonderful way to add a little structure and height to your borders without making them feel too formal.

So, if you’re starting your spring bulb shopping, consider this your little reminder to add some Purple Sensation to your list.

Have you planted these before, or are they going on your bulb list this year? 💜🌿
