My mother did something so special for me on my birthday this year. Over the years because of the favor of God and because of all of you supporting my ministry the way you have, I had 5 consecutive Billboard #1 albums. I’ve also had two Billboard #1 radio songs. I Give Myself Away was certified gold (almost platinum now). I also had a Grammy nomination and several other awards and nominations over the years. I was one of Billboard’s top 10 artists of the decade. Yet over the years not only have I not said anything about it, but never had any of the plaques made to commemorate these milestones. My awards have never been displayed because they were never my pursuit. I discovered early that it wasn’t healthy for my heart. This is not an indictment on others, just speaking for myself. I never wanted things to become the object of my pursuit. Just Christ alone. Over the years of traveling around the world (over 50 countries), my kids were younger then and never fully knew how much favor the Lord had shown me. I began to express the desire for them to be able to have something tangible to see some of what the Lord had done through their daddy. So on my birthday as a surprise to me, my mother presented me with just some of the things I never had made. Each of my 5 kids holding a number 1 plaque. Each project made after one of them was born. The pictures don’t even show all of the plaques. God has been really good to me and you guys have too! But the truth still remains that no matter what “success” comes and goes, “Only You can satisfy my heart Jesus!”

Here's an update on what happened and why I haven't posted anything for the past month. We were in Flatanger when my wife Sara noticed something unusual in her throat. The doctors told her to fly home and get it checked immediately, so we flew back to Italy for a biopsy. The results took longer than expected, so we decided to return to Norway and wait there, so we could bring the van back to Italy if necessary. We were still hoping it was nothing serious and that we could stay longer and keep climbing. Unfortunately, the medical report confirmed that it was lymphoma, so we immediately drove back home with our van. After just a few more days of medical tests, Sara had her first chemotherapy session last week and began her journey to recovery. It's going to be a difficult journey, both physically and mentally, and it's already been tough so far. We were scared at first, but we're now confident that she'll get through this. Sara is strong and resilient. She's already been through a lot in the past, and I know she'll get through this too. We're incredibly grateful to our friends, family, and doctors for taking care of Sara and supporting us through all of this. • As for Silence, we'll be back stronger next year. The route will still be there.
