i will say this as someone who has tried many things and worn many hats, spending your skill points spread out will lead to the result you imagine. you have to be actually savant type special to be high tier good at everything. the average person has way more power to learn and refine a singular or small set of skills to their highest level than to spread out their time, this isn't to say that you shouldn't get different hobbies or study more than one subject, just in my experience if i had dedicated my time and brain power to learning electronic engineering, or aeronautics, id be in a much better position in life than i am for spending that time on learning multiple instruments, practicing art in various forms and finding new hobbies.
