Who should benefit from Ireland’s natural resources? Right now, there are multiple commercial applications before MARA to harvest seaweed along Ireland’s west coast. Eight of those applications come from Arramara Teoranta, which was sold by the Irish state agency Údarás na Gaeltachta to Canadian-owned Acadian Seaplants in 2014. Meanwhile, generations of families in Connemara have harvested seaweed from these shores, and more than 21,000 people have signed a petition raising concerns about large-scale corporate harvesting. This isn't just about seaweed. It's about who gets to benefit when Ireland's natural resources become commercially valuable — multinational companies, or the communities that have worked these shores for generations? Irish shores. Irish families. Irish seaweed. Support the people producing and harvesting from Ireland’s shores. Buy directly from Irish producers on the FarmLoop app. (LINK IN BIO) #Ireland #IrishSeaweed #Connemara #Gaeltacht #IrishResources
