I’m 55. My skin is loose in places. My forehead wrinkles. My eyes crinkle. My belly looks different when I stop holding it in.

I’m also strong, active, and comfortable showing you all of it. ❤️

I choose to care for my body and mind. That doesn’t mean my skin will stop aging, or that it needs to.

The wrinkles don’t bother me. What I question is the story we’ve been told: that as women age, we lose our beauty, our desirability, and somehow our worth, if we don’t continue looking young.

Men become “silver foxes.” Their bellies can be considered sexy. Meanwhile, women are expected to keep looking like time never touched us.

I’m choosing a different story.

I can love my body as it is and keep caring for it, so that I’m healthy.

Acceptance and effort can exist together. So can muscles and loose skin.

For me, the beauty of aging is in getting to keep living, growing, and becoming more myself. Aging is a privilege. I want to experience it without constantly inspecting myself for something to fix.

Your life. Your body. Your choices. Including choices different from mine.

But let them come from what feels right for YOU. You get to question what you’ve been taught to dislike about yourself.

We don’t control every change aging brings. We do have a say in the meaning we give those changes, and how we treat ourselves along the way.

What’s one belief about aging you’re ready to let go of?

Cats have a specialized collarbone that lets them always land on their feet. The free-floating clavicle combined with an extremely flexible backbone allows cats to perform a mid-air righting reflex in as little as 0.3 seconds. They twist their front body first, then their back body follows, using their tail as a counterbalance. Kittens develop this ability by 7 weeks old. Surprisingly, cats falling from higher floors often survive better than those falling from lower ones because they have more time to spread their legs like a parachute, reaching a terminal velocity of about 60 mph.

🍫🥥 HIGH PROTEIN CHOCOLATE COCONUT DESSERT

#GoodCulturePartner This might be one of my favorite high protein desserts I’ve made with @good_culture cottage cheese. It’s rich, creamy, chocolatey, and so satisfying.

I’ve lost over 150 lbs, and desserts like this have been a big part of making that weight loss sustainable. I still love chocolate, I still love dessert, and I don’t believe you need to give those things up to reach your goals.

Makes 4 servings, with 205 cals and 18g of protein per serving. Enjoy it with a spoon, or dip fresh strawberries or apple slices right into all those delicious layers.

✅Remember, comment FLAVOR and I’ll message you how to preorder my new high protein cookbook!

INGREDIENTS

Chocolate Protein Mousse
1 tub (16 oz) Good Culture 4% cottage cheese
5-6 tbsp unsweetened cacao powder (I use 6)
1/2 cup to 3/4 cup powdered monkfruit

Creamy Coconut Layer
1/4 cup greek yogurt
3 tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut
1 tbsp powdered monkfruit
1/4 tsp vanilla extract or paste

Chocolate Shell
4 tbsp sugar free chocolate chips
1 tsp coconut oil (optional)

Here is how I made it:

1.Add your cottage cheese, cacao powder, and powdered monkfruit to a small food processor. Blend for 1-2 mins until completely smooth and creamy. Make sure your sweetener is POWDERED, otherwise the texture can be gritty.

2.Transfer the chocolate mousse to a serving bowl, container, or right back into the cottage cheese tub. You can refrigerate it for 1–2 hours if you want a thicker, richer texture.

3.In a separate bowl, mix your yogurt, shredded coconut, powdered monkfruit, and vanilla until well combined. Make this as coconuty as you want.

4.Spoon the coconut mixture over the chocolate mousse and spread evenly to create a creamy coconut layer.

5.Melt your chocolate chips in the microwave in 15-second increments, stirring between each until smooth. Add a little coconut oil if needed, then pour over the coconut layer and spread into a thin, even shell.

4.Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until all the layers set, thats important.

If you make it, be sure to let me know on SHREDHAPPENS.
