I was in the midst of reorganizing my storage closet over the weekend when I stumbled across 2 more additional Jay Dee analog reels, one of which contains a previously-unreleased Jay Dee track that I'd forgotten all about.
I've been working on this remix project for about a year now. Some days, I'm excited as sh*t to be revisiting/reworking these rare Jay Dee songs.
Other days? I'm not so inspired or motivated.
Not to mention how all the J Dilla phenomena overwhelms the crap outta me... Me, who retired from the music sh*t over 20 years ago and who has been living a super quiet, low-key life.

part 2 Also, I'm wondering if you got any plans to release his demos you got with him, that might remain unreleased, of course with his family's approval, if there is a plan rolled out for that, I think we already discovered the batches he handed to you (if that was actually the case since you said he oversaw, mainly the vocals, in your album, in another post?), theyve been leaked online for a few decades, titled the 1999 - The New Slave and 2000 - 2000 Batch - Hiccuped Classix Vol 7even - 2000 Batch Vol. 01 - Another Batch (realize these might be bootleg names or actual writings on the demo cds, I don't know for sure) but would be cool if you could share your own version of the batches tapes or just get it to be released through his family. because it would be cool to compare the different versions floating around different artists cuz there might be variations (remixes or demo versions) on them and of course his family might even have the completely original batches. but just to see what floated around artists. and also if you still have demos from your album and singles, like outtakes or alternative versions, would be really cool if you dropped those aswell. there might be something we've never heard (even an instrumental of his) and would be nice to finally get it uncovered. let's all hope it happens. wish it could happen with every artist, but nowadays its ever more difficult to even reach those artists to even let them know the message.

part 1 amazing, can we get proper digitalizations of these covers? I would like to see what they say and experience what a j dilla reel looked like, btw was he a part of this or were they just your own studio reels? was he there when these were built? I know it might sound weird, but, its just my curiosity speaking, to see what would come about from his developments. cause maybe then I can reach other labels and such to try and get other stashed material to be handled to Mah Dukes. even tho I'm kind of a bootlegger collector too and I like to contribute to it, just for other fans to get to know some new detail or new leak, sorry for that, but its just my fanatism, cuz some people do have rare tapes of him and just leak them or tease them online, I'm allways on the hunt for new Dilla. I think that's actually his holy grail, to be able to listen to his original raw instrumental batches and demos, there's no other sort of experience like that, we know he is the best musician in the world, but, to experience his stuff raw and original from his reels or batches, with his own mixing and stuff, its allways better.

people have no idea how expensive 2 inch tapes were back in the days.. i have 5 (456’s) and got em at the low price of $500/each lol. folks are LUCKY that the standard went to cheap computers and recording apps
