A 37-year-old former employee at Florida’s Biltmore Hotel is accused of stealing nearly $8,000 worth of food, including 192 lobster tails valued at more than $6,500, more than 116 pounds of pork belly, shrimp, calamari, snapper, chorizo, gnocchi and coconut milk.

Investigators say surveillance showed Diego Alfredo Medina Acosta removing a cart loaded with lobster from storage and returning it with some of the seafood missing. He reportedly claimed he was letting the lobster thaw.

After he resigned, the hotel’s chef reportedly noticed they suddenly had a whole lot more food left over during inventory checks. 😆

Acosta has been charged with grand theft.
